Black Friday at Dick's Sporting Goods
During Black Friday's past, Dick's Sporting Goods has followed the trend to begin sales on Thursday night, rather than Friday morning. For Dick's, this includes a variety of doorbusters available to the first through the store and only for a limited time. Doorbuster deals end at the sporting goods retailer on Friday afternoon. However, a great sale continues through the weekend and even into Monday.
Last year's Black Friday advertisement from Dick's encompassed a whopping 16 pages of everything an outdoor enthusiast could possibly desire. Deer stands, shotguns, crossbows, boots, and insulated camouflage clothing were just a few of the highly discounted items available to lucky shoppers. Popular "The North Face" brand hoodies were available during Black Friday 2013 at Dicks in a variety of sizes and colors for men and women, at only $55 a pop.
One exclusive sale from last year included a buy one; get one free deal on Skeet Reese Spinning or Baitcast Combo rod and reels. Kayaks from Trophy Angler, Fusion, and PathFinder were available for nearly half off regular retail price. Boots, fleece clothing, tents, air mattresses, sleeping bags, gun safes, and virtually anything else a hunter or fisher would want came at record-breaking prices to Dick's shoppers during Black Friday 2013.
Black Friday 2014 at Dick's Sporting Good is expected to be just as incredible. The best deals come early, but great deals remain throughout the weekend and throughout Cyber Monday. Online specials, like free shipping are also available, expanding the offers to even those locations where a brick-and-mortar Dick's store may not be within driving distance.
Dick's and subsidiaries fill a special place in the Christmas wish list. This is the place for those who enjoy hunting or fishing, live for camping, or even a leisurely evening on the green. From golfing equipment and tackle boxes, to high-tech camping gear, Dick's has a little bit of everything outdoors and sports related at prices that cannot be beat.
About Dicks Sporting Goods
In 1948, an 18-year-old in Binghamton, New York, armed with a $300 investment from his grandmother, followed his dream of owning and operating an outdoorsman store. The 18-year-old was Richard "Dick" Stack, founder of Dick's Sporting Goods.
What started as a small bait and tackle shop soon expanded, to one location and then another. From meager beginnings, the company grew and expanded. Eventually the store included locations all over upstate New York. Richard "Dick" Stack remained president of the company until 1984 when his son, Edward "Eddie" Stack, succeeded him.
It was under Eddie Stack's control that the company became a worldwide success. Though most locations are still on the east coast, the company now boasts over 500 stores and multi-billion dollar revenue. Subsidiaries include Chicks, Field and Stream, Golf Galaxy Inc., True Runner, Blue Sombrero, and the company's booming ecommerce site, DicksSportingGoods.com
